Hadley Engelhard, ESQ

President & CEO

Hadley is an attorney specializing in contract law and all sports related agreements. Originally from Brooklyn and raised in South Florida, Hadley received his B.S. In 1988 from the University of Florida and then continued on to St. Thomas University School of Law in Miami where he founded the Sports & Entertainment Law Society and received his J.D. In 1991. Hadley currently sits on the Board at St. Thomas University School of Law. He has been representing professional athletes since 1991 and is a member of the Florida Bar Association and the Sports Lawyers Association.

 

Hadley has negotiated some of the RICHEST contracts in the NFL over the course of his career. Over the last 18 months, he has negotiated some key veteran contacts worth over $150 million and continues to represent several of the HIGHEST paid players in the NFL (Top 10 in their positions). He also represents a pedigree of RISING stars which are soon to become free agents.

 

Hadley’s background also includes several years in the Entertainment/Music Industry, where he founded So So Def Sports with partner Jermaine Dupri. During his tenure with So So Def Sports, Hadley represented some of the HIGHEST draft picks in the NFL and some marquee veterans. He has pioneered the synergy between entertainment and sports into one large market industry, securing lucrative contracts, on and off the filed.

 

Hadley continues to give back to his profession as a mentor and frequent speaker at several Colleges and Universities, educating students about the business of sports. He is involved in many charities and is a community coach in Metro Atlanta. Additionally, he is one of the original founders of the Boys & Girls Club in his hometown of Hollywood, Florida.  Hadley resides in Atlanta, GA and is happily married with three children.

Gavin Kahn, ESQ

Vice President of Team Sports

Gavin is a sports agent and attorney with over 25 years of experience negotiating contracts. From 2002-2014, he was President of KSM, a boutique sports management firm that specialized in the representation of professional athletes and provided comprehensive services, including the negotiation of player contracts and marketing/endorsement deals. In 2014, Gavin partnered with ESM in order to combine resources and join a team of respected and experienced professionals in the sports and entertainment industry. He concentrates in the sports of baseball and football.

 

Gavin has negotiated hundreds of millions of dollars in contracts and has a tremendous knowledge of sports law issues, including the MLB/MLBPA and NFL/NFLPA Collective Bargaining Agreements. He has represented numerous players over the years at all stages of their career, including pre-draft advising, the draft, player contracts (rookie through free agency), marketing/endorsements, player grievances and post-career planning. Based on diligent research and preparation, skilled negotiations and industry contacts, Gavin has been able to consistently maximize his clients’ earning potential.

 

Gavin received his undergraduate degree from the University of Florida, where he was a finance major and received a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, with honors. He then attended the University of Miami School of Law, where he received his Juris Doctorate degree and was a member of the Entertainment & Sports Law Review. Gavin is a member of the Florida Bar Association and its Entertainment, Arts & Sports Law Section. He is also certified as a Player Agent by the MLB Players Association and as a Contract Advisor by the NFL Players Association. Gavin resides in South Florida with his wife, son and daughter.

Adam M. Seifer

Vice President of Football

Adam is an NFLPA-certified agent who has represented athletes on and off the field for nearly 10 years and has practiced as a licensed attorney for almost two decades.  Active in the Charlotte community, Adam serves on the Board of Directors of the Steve Smith Family Foundation and, together with the Foundation, has co-sponsored awareness events directed at preventing and stopping domestic violence.

 

As an agent, Adam has negotiated numerous multi-million-dollar contracts on behalf of his clients.  Armed with both an MBA and a law degree,  Adam understands business and specifically, the business of being a sports agent.

 

Adam’s success results from both his unique analytical skills as a contract negotiator and his strong working relationships with Scouts, General Managers, Sports Writers and Team Representatives at the decision-making level. A trusted industry veteran and a fierce competitor, Adam works endlessly and tirelessly to promote his clients and does not stop until he has helped his clients achieve their goals.

 

Jim Ulrich, ESQ

Senior Agent

Jim has represented elite professional athletes for nearly 25 years and is known for his eye for talent and trusted, long standing relationships with key executives and personnel throughout the leagues. These rare assets have enabled Jim to achieve the best possible outcomes for both known and “off-the-radar” players.

 

Jim and Hadley Engelhard became partners at ESM in 1994, after a year of representing football clients while still in law school.

 

Jim’s long track record of finding undiscovered athletes and advancing their careers is widely known in the industry. His discovery and subsequent work with James Develin, an overlooked Ivy League defensive lineman who became an All-Pro and Super Bowl champion with the New England Patriots, is documented in Sports Illustrated’s The Patriot Way: James Develin’s Outcast-to-Super Bowl Story, written by Greg Bishop (January 29, 2018).

 

Jim has deep expertise in the strategic positioning of football clients for the NFL draft. In 2018, client Patrick “P.J.” Hall became the highest drafted player in history who was not invited to the Combine. His roster of clients includes NFL starters and All-Pros and they represent the ESM philosophy of, “It’s not where you start, it’s where you finish.”

 

As an attorney specializing in sports law, Jim seamlessly manages the needs of his clients both on and off of the field. He has successfully resolved matters involving both NFL and MLB Collective Bargaining Agreements, ranging from on-field conduct and equipment matters to PED suspensions. He is also experienced in managing the full range of unique immigration issues faced by athletes as he represents multiple international athletes in both football and baseball.

Chad Berger

Agent

Chad is a “Triple Dawg” graduate from the University of Georgia. After receiving a B.A. in Criminal Justice, he chose to remain in Athens to pursue his graduate degrees at the University of Georgia School of Law. Focusing primarily on sports-related topics such as contracts, labor arbitration and collective bargaining, he became one of just a handful of people to have completed the J.D./M.S. Dual Degree Program, receiving a M.S. in Sport Management and Policy as well as a J.D.

 

Chad also worked as a Recruiting Specialist for the Georgia Football program while earning his graduate degrees. Working alongside some of the greatest coaches in the country, he recruited dozens of players considered to be among the best in their respective classes.

 

Having formed relationships with various current and former NFL players, Chad is well aware of the demanding lifestyle that comes along with being a professional athlete. He places great emphasis on the importance of preparing clients for life after football and has utilized his marketing experience to create lasting relationships through partnerships with local and national brands. An active philanthropist throughout his life, Chad continues to help clients establish their own unique philanthropic organizations while facilitating events with corporate and local sponsors.

Andrew Heiland

Director of Athlete Marketing/Digital Marketing

Andrew is a graduate of Robert Morris University receiving his undergraduate degree in Marketing.  After moving to New York City to pursue a career in Athlete Marketing, Andrew had roles at Everlast Worldwide and most recently, Roc Nation Sports as a Digital Marketing Associate. Andrew is social media savvy and understands the importance of building an athletes brand both digitally and through executed partnerships with companies.  Andrew has a passion for athlete marketing and football and plans to bring in new opportunities for each of ESM’s clients.

 

Andrew joins our team as the Director of Athlete Marketing / Digital Marketing and currently resides in New York City.

Mathew E. Flatow

Legal Counsel

Mathew is General Counsel of Enter Sports Management’s North Carolina office. He joined the agency in 2019, bringing over a decade of experience as a trial lawyer with a focus in employment law.

 

In 2011, Mathew, together with Vice President of Football Operations, Adam M. Seifer, founded SeiferFlatow, PLLC, a law firm. Mathew is the firm’s Managing Partner and is head of its busy civil litigation practice. He has helped athletes and entertainers navigate complex legal issues and guided them in the formation of various business ventures.

 

Mathew was raised in North Carolina and received his undergraduate degree from the University of Notre Dame and his jurist doctorate from Wake Forest University School of Law.
